How keys and referrals work

Updated: May 26, 2026

Thank you for reading the rules — we’ve written them in plain language, no fine print. We don’t run discounts, prominent promo codes, or countdown timers. Instead, there’s a small keys program: you earn keys for real purchases and for friends who come through your link and buy a course too. All the rules are below.

What you get

Every program you buy at the academy earns keys. The amount is shown on each course page — a fixed number of keys, not a percentage of the price and not a discount. Keys go through a 30-day hold — the window during which a purchase can be refunded. If a refund happens, the keys are voided automatically.

After the hold, the keys become available. We’ll say more about what you can do with them — the program grows step by step, and we’d rather not promise features that don’t exist yet.

Your referral link

In your account (the “Keys” section) you can generate a referral code like ZR-MASTER-XXXX — a short name tag plus four random characters. Share the link: your friend follows it, registers, makes their first paid purchase — and then both of you earn keys. It’s a one-time event: each referral “fires” once, on that friend’s first purchase.

Example of your code

We don’t “tie” your friend to you in any marketing sense. You don’t see their name, e-mail, or purchases — only an aggregate count: “N friends registered, M made their first purchase.” This is a Quebec Bill 25 / Loi 25 requirement — we minimize personal data shared between users.

Annual limit — 50 referrals a year

Canadian tax law (CRA, Income Tax Act §3) treats regular referral earnings above a certain threshold as self-employment income. We don’t want the program to quietly make you a self-employed referrer with separate reporting obligations. So there’s a limit of 50 qualified referrals per calendar year.

After the 50th referral, further invitations stay “in the review queue” — we can confirm them manually if we have both consents and the context. The limit resets on January 1.

Ambassador badge

After 10 qualified referrals over your whole time at the academy, you receive the ambassador badge. It’s a one-time mark — not a subscription, not a “tier” you can lose. There are no automatic rewards beyond the badge for this milestone; we treat it as a quiet thank-you.

If you’d like, we can add your name to the public ambassadors list on the academy page — that’s a separate consent you can give or withdraw at any time in your account.

Refunds, errors, disputes

If you refund a purchase, the keys for it — both yours and your referrer’s — are voided automatically. This takes a few minutes after the refund is confirmed.

If something looks off — missing keys, a duplicate, an entry you don’t recognize — write to us in your account (the “Chats” section) or at [email protected]. We review every request by hand — don’t hesitate to write.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t show “N spots left,” “sale ends in…” timers, or other pressure tactics.
  • We don’t turn keys into a subscription. No monthly charges.
  • We don’t share a friend’s personal data with the referrer without both parties’ explicit consent.
  • We don’t shut keys down “forever” — even if the program changes, current balances are kept and handled under the rules that were in effect when they were earned (we store a snapshot of the rules in every entry).

If anything is unclear or you’d like to check something — write to us. This is a living program, and we keep refining it as students use it.

Full rules are in the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you’re signed in, your balance and referral link are in the “Keys” section of your account.
