Why ZAnails Academy
What is ZAnails Academy, and who is it for?
It’s the online academy of Zulfiia Anikanova — a nail artist with 25 years in the profession and an international manicure championship judge. It’s for nail artists who want more than copying moves from a video: here you learn why a gel set holds or lifts, how a shape is built, and what to do with a tricky cuticle. You can start with the basics, or come in as a working nail artist who feels you’ve hit a ceiling.
How is this different from free videos online?
A video shows how another nail artist works — and that’s where it ends. Here, the lesson is only the start: you do the work, send a photo, and on plans with work review Zulfiia personally reviews your own work — where the shape drifted, why the reflection landed unevenly, what to change next time. A mistake you can’t see yourself can follow you through years of clients; a review shows it to you on your own work. On top of that: a skill diagnostic, your Master Path, and a community of nail artists.
How are you different from other online nail schools?
In three ways you can check before you buy. One author: Zulfiia teaches the courses and reviews the work herself. A diploma you have to earn: it’s issued once you’ve completed the course’s lessons and quizzes and Zulfiia has approved your practical work — and any client can verify it by its number on our site. And clear terms: what each plan includes, how many personal reviews you get and how long your access lasts are all on the plans page before you pay.
Who teaches, and why should I trust her?
Zulfiia Anikanova: 25 years in the profession, about 20 years of teaching, and an international manicure championship judge. Behind her: her own salons in Donetsk and Kyiv, a private practice in Stockholm, and now her own business in Ottawa–Gatineau. She brings that judge’s eye to every student review: shape, reflection, cuticle, clean lines — the things professionals use to tell strong work at a glance.
What do I get besides the video lessons?
Everything that helps a lesson turn into a skill. A skill diagnostic and your Master Path, which show where you are now and which skills grow after a course. A community: a gallery of student work, a monthly contest and an annual Grand Prix. PDF materials for the lessons that you can save. At the end, a diploma or a certificate depending on your plan — and on plans with support, personal reviews of your work from Zulfiia and the course chat.
What if I get stuck — will someone help?
Yes — it’s built into how the course works. For anything about the platform, there’s the support chat on every plan. For technique, plans with support give you personal feedback on your practical work; if a piece needs another pass, you send it again (how many times depends on your plan). A question that comes up between reviews can go to the course chat, where Zulfiia and other students are.
Can I see student work and reviews?
Yes. Only people who have completed a course can leave a review on the site, and every review is moderated — you’ll find them on the Academy home page and on the course pages. The winning work from the monthly contest is on the contest page, no sign-in needed. Work by Zulfiia and her students is on her Instagram, @zanailsart.
Who it’s for
Is it right for me if I’m just starting out?
Yes. The programs build from the basics — technique, nail architecture, materials — step by step, explaining why each step is done the way it is. From your first sets, you learn to understand the process instead of copying someone else’s moves. Not sure which course to start with? Take the skill diagnostic — it will point the way.
Is it right for me if I already work as a nail artist?
Yes. For working nail artists, the courses are about leveling up and confidence: architecture and strengthening, correction and nail repair, tricky cases. The lessons explain causes — why one client’s gel wears without lifting and another’s pops off — so you solve these problems yourself instead of hoping for luck.
Do you teach Russian manicure?
Yes — it’s one of our core directions. Zulfiia works with and teaches Russian (combined) and Japanese manicure; separate courses are dedicated to the cuticle — clean, precise and safe work that doesn’t leave the skin dry or prone to hangnails. The online courses also cover nail architecture, strengthening and correction.
Where should I start?
With the skill diagnostic: it shows your strengths and growth areas and suggests the course where your progress will show the most. Want to see how the lessons work first? Open a free lesson or a course preview, if the program has one. Still unsure? Message us — we’ll help you choose.
Format, language & access
What languages are the courses in, and where can I study from?
Courses are taught in Russian, English and French; each course page shows its language, and the same program can exist in several languages. You can study from anywhere — all you need is an internet connection. Switch the Academy language at the top of the page: if the course you’re viewing exists in that language, you’ll go straight to that version.
Can I take nail courses in person in Ottawa?
Yes. Alongside the online academy, Zulfiia teaches in person in the Ottawa–Gatineau region — one-on-one or in a small group. If it’s easier to train in your own city, a travelling format can be discussed separately, around your dates and goals.
In person or online? How much do in-person courses cost?
It depends on how you like to grow. Online — at your own pace, from any country, with your work reviewed from photos. In person — Zulfiia is right beside you, correcting your technique as you work. One-on-one training starts at 700 CAD per day, a small group at 500 CAD per spot per day; a comprehensive 40–80-hour program is priced individually after a consultation. Sending a request doesn’t commit you to anything.
What’s included in a course?
Video lessons and PDF materials, plus quizzes after the lessons in the larger courses. Beyond that, it depends on the plan: personal reviews of your practical work, the course chat, a diploma or a certificate. Each plan’s full contents — price, access period and number of reviews — are listed on the course’s plans page before you pay.
How long do I have access to a course?
It depends on the course and the plan: from 90 days on the self-paced plan up to seven months on the top one. The exact period is on the plans page, and after you buy, the end date is shown in your account under “Courses.” While your access is open, you can rewatch the lessons as often as you like. Your diploma and achievements stay with you for good — they don’t depend on your access period.
At what pace do I take the course?
Your own. There’s no schedule: study whenever it suits you and come back to the lessons as many times as you need while your access is open. One rule: send your practical work for review before your access ends, so you get every review your plan includes.
Can I download the video lessons?
No — videos are watched in your account and can’t be downloaded; that’s how we protect the original materials. The PDF materials for the lessons can be opened in your browser and saved.
Diploma & results
Is the diploma real? How is it verified?
Yes — and you have to earn it. The diploma is issued on plans with work review once you’ve completed the course’s lessons and quizzes and Zulfiia has approved your practical work; on the self-paced plan, you receive a certificate. The diploma is verified publicly by its unique number: the link shows the course, the date and the status, so you can confidently show it to a client or an employer. To be clear about its limits: it’s the academy’s own diploma, not a government credential like Quebec’s DEP Esthétique; its value lies in the skill and in the fact that your work was approved by an international championship judge.
Do you guarantee results?
No — skill grows from your own practice, and no one can honestly guarantee it. What we do is make sure that practice doesn’t go to waste: on plans with work review, Zulfiia looks at every required piece, shows you the mistakes and approves the work once it’s done right. And your growth shows up in your Master Path — skill by skill, not just in words.
Plans & levels of support
What are course plans, and how do they differ?
Plans are levels of support for the same course: they differ in how closely Zulfiia works with you and which document you receive at the end. Self-paced — lessons, materials and a certificate. With support — plus personal reviews of your work and a diploma. Premium — more personal reviews and an in-depth breakdown of every piece. The course chat is included in the plans that list it. In some courses, a few lessons on difficult cases open only on Premium — they’re marked in the program and on the plans page. A course without plans has a single price.
How do I choose a plan?
Ask yourself whether you need an outside eye. If you work confidently and want to master the system on your own, the self-paced plan is enough. If you want someone to spot your mistakes and show you how to fix them, choose a plan with support: personal work reviews drive the most growth. You can start on a lower plan and pay the difference to move up later.
Can I upgrade to a higher plan after buying?
Yes, if the course has plans. You don’t buy the course again — you only pay the difference. Everything the new plan includes opens right away, and your access period restarts for the full length of the new plan. You’ll see the amount and exactly what opens on the upgrade screen before you pay.
Payment, refunds & data
How much does it cost, and how do I pay?
The price is on each course page and its plans page, in Canadian dollars (CAD), with tax already included. You pay by card online through Stripe: your card details are entered on Stripe’s side and are never stored by us. Access opens right after payment, and your receipt is in your account under “Orders & receipts.”
Can I get a refund?
A course is a digital product with instant access, so the rules are simple. If you haven’t opened a single lesson and you contact us within 14 days, we’ll consider a refund as a goodwill gesture — minus the payment processing fee, which Stripe doesn’t return. Once you open the first lesson, the purchase is final. You can send the request right from your account; the full terms are in the Refund Policy.
How do you protect my data?
We don’t sell personal data, and we follow Quebec’s privacy law (Law 25): a person in charge of data protection has been designated, and you can ask at any time to access, correct or delete your data. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
How can I contact you?
Email [email protected], Instagram @zanailsart, phone +1 819 598 5871 (also on WhatsApp and Telegram), and the contact form on the site. We answer personally.
Technical questions
The site won’t open or doesn’t load fully — what should I do?
Most often it’s a network filter, not the site. 1) Open the site on mobile data instead of Wi-Fi (or the other way round): if it opens, a filter on your network is holding it back. 2) In your internet provider’s or router’s app, check the protection settings (“safe browsing”, “parental controls”) and add zanailsart.ca to the allowed sites — the change can take 30–60 minutes. 3) In your browser: if “Secure DNS” is set to a third-party filter, switch it to your default provider; try a private/incognito window (it turns extensions off) or another browser. 4) If you opened the link inside Instagram or Facebook, tap “Open in browser”. Still stuck? Message us on Instagram @zanailsart or at [email protected] with your network (home Wi-Fi or mobile), device and browser, and a screenshot of the error — we’ll sort it out.
Knowledge Base
Can I buy a single video instead of a whole course?
Yes. The Knowledge Base (under “Education”) has paid videos — short breakdowns of one topic. They’re sold one at a time; the price and access period are on each video’s page: either for as long as the video stays on the platform, or a set number of days from purchase. A video helps you sort out one question quickly, while systematic training with work review and a diploma is what the courses are for. Articles in the section are open to everyone; free videos open with a free account.
Can I get a refund for a paid video?
Same as courses: once you’ve opened a video, it counts as delivered, so we don’t refund it for a change of mind. If the video wouldn’t open because of a technical failure on our side, we’ll refund you. You send the request from your account; the full terms are in the Refund Policy.
